Port Sanilac Rescue Prompts Warning

A water rescue at Port Sanilac’s breakwall Saturday evening is prompting firefighters to warn residents about fast-changing lake conditions. Around 7:15 p.m., emergency crews responded after a swimmer outside the harbor struggled to return to shore amid 4 to 6 foot waves and strong north winds. Bystanders helped the woman reach a ladder as crews arrived, while a nearby recovery boat stood by in case she slipped back into the water. Firefighters and civilians then pulled her to safety and handed her over to EMS for treatment.
