With the increased awareness of human trafficking, it’s more important than ever for women and young ladies to pay attention to their surroundings and to practice some type of self-defense.
International Academy of Macomb student, Katie Sorbie, has partnered with local nonprofit, A Beautiful Me to create a class with the goal of teaching girls how to prevent and/or escape a dangerous situation. There are two classes available to choose from, Saturday, January 21st, from 9:30AM – 3:00PM in Port Huron at A Beautiful Me Training and Empowerment Suite. There is also a class on Saturday, January 28th, from 9:30AM – 3:00PM in Clinton Township at the Macomb Intermediate School District.
The classes are geared towards young women between the ages of 14 – 18, with classes being taught by police officers from the Shelby Township Police Department.
