Prosecutors had asked for a joint trial, but Lane called it chaotic and impractical. The child died after suffering multiple injuries, and charges were filed more than seven years later. Attorneys argued over evidence, juror seating, and statements to police. Houle’s next hearing is Oct. 13th and Maison’s is Oct. 17th, as the courts continue reviewing motions before their trials.
