Special Needs and Autism Acceptance Day

Last Saturday, the Port Huron Police Department hosted its annual Special Needs and Autism Acceptance Day. Despite rainy weather, local families came together to meet first responders and explore emergency vehicles in a relaxed setting. The event focused on building trust, ensuring that if help is ever needed, fear won’t stand in the way. Community partners also offered resources for families. A standout moment was helping families register for the Home Alert system, a key tool for first responders to provide better care in emergencies.
