Strong Winds Shutdown Bridge

Strong winds blasted Michigan on Thursday, shutting down the Mackinac Bridge for several hours and knocking out power in parts of the state. Gusts hit over 65 mph on the bridge, forcing officials to close it until conditions improved. Northern Michigan saw some of the highest wind speeds, with Houghton Lake reaching 61 mph and Traverse City at 60 mph. By Friday morning, the Mackinac Bridge had reopened with a high wind warning still in place, urging drivers to slow down and stay cautious.
