empowHER. Sold-Out Event Is Coming To Inspire And Uplift Women In the Blue Water Area

What started as an Instagram page to inspire women has become a sold-out women’s empowerment conference, and it’s coming to the Blue Water Area later this week. 

The empowHER. conference will begin Sunday, April 16th, at the Blue Water Convention Center located at 800 Harker St, Port Huron. Doors open at 11am.

Founder of the empowHER. conference Demiree Fultz, is also owner of Ruboo Boutique which was awarded best boutique in Michigan in 2021. 

The event will feature six guest speakers from a variety of professions that will be sharing tips and secrets to give women insight on how to become more successful in business and life in general. There will also be music played from guest DJ Rue, swag bags filled with goodies from amazing women business owners, photo ops, appetizers, and more.

So if you missed the opportunity to attend this year’s event make sure you keep an eye out for when it returns next year to experience the biggest women’s empowerment conference in Michigan!

Marysville’s Knight Club To Host A Spectacular Night Of Professional Boxing

Are you a fan of the sport of boxing? If you answered yes, then you don’t want to miss this upcoming professional boxing event coming soon to the Knight Club in Marysville.

Kaos Entertainment in partnership with Blankets With Care, will be putting on a spectacular event Saturday, April 29th, located at 1195 Gratiot Blvd, Marysville.

The event will feature seven undercard fights before the main event between the top prospect from Dearborn, MI Husam Almashhadi versus Rashard Hicks.  

There will be a special guest appearance from boxing legend Tommy “Hitman” Hearns as well as musical performances from artists Jordan Snipes, Big Berry, and Tony Phillips. There will also be food and a cash bar available. Doors open at 6pm.

SC4 Softball Games WIll Be Featured On ESPN+

It’s not everyday that your local community college sports teams get to be featured on ESPN. The St. Clair County Community College (SC4) Skippers wants you to tune in and support as they feature on ESPN+ later this month.   

As part of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Game of the Week streaming broadcast, the Skippers will be taking on Macomb Community College as well as Henry Ford College. 

Games against Macomb will take place Friday, April 21, at 3 and 5 p.m., and Henry Ford on Saturday, April 22, at 1 and 3 p.m. Both games will take place at the SC4 Softball Field in Marysville.

Meijer Recalls Premade Salads Due To Possible Listeria Contamination

If your idea of a perfect meal includes a premade salad from retailer Meijer, you may want to reconsider due to a potential contamination of Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall is part of a broader Revolution Farms lettuce recall and includes the Fresh From Meijer premade salads. There are six known states that are recalling their product including: Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. 

There are currently no known illnesses reported from any Meijer brand salad products included in this recall.

Listeria monocytogenes bacteria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infection in young children, the elderly, or those with weakened immune systems.  

Symptoms include: high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. 

If customers would like a refund they may make a request at the Meijer Customer Service desk at their nearest location. If you have ingested this product and show symptoms, visit your physician immediately.

Candle Pour Workshop With The Chandler At Port Huron Museums

If you’re anything like most people, you enjoy a good fragrance in your home. Whether it be from air fresheners, incense, or candles, a good smelling home is a must. 

Now you can learn how to make your own candles with your own unique scent to take home with you at the DIY Candle Pour Workshop with the Chandler, hosted by Port Huron Museums. 

The event will take place on Friday, April 28th, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Port Huron Museum’s Carnegie Museum located at 1115 6th Street, Port Huron.   

Tickets are $30 for members and $35 for non-members, there will be a cash bar available as well. Extra candles can be purchased for an additional $20.

Teen Health Community Advisory Council Seeking New Members

If you are a member of the community and would like to have input on the future of St. Clair County Health Department’s (SCCHD) Teen Health program, then be sure to attend their upcoming Community Advisory Council (CAC) meeting. 

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 19th, from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. in the Port Huron High School cafeteria located at, 2215 Court Street, Port Huron.

Sandy Mangan, Teen Health Nurse Practitioner/Supervisor says, “Participation in the Community Advisory Council allows members voices to be heard on the services we provide like ensuring quality healthcare, promoting healthy lifestyles and increasing wellness opportunities for St. Clair County.”
