Port Huron Police Enforce Winter Parking Ordinance To Facilitate Snow Removal

As winter descends upon us, the Port Huron Police Department issues a reminder to local residents: the City’s snow ordinance takes effect on Friday, December 1st. Parking on paved city streets is prohibited from 2:30 a.m. – 6:00 a.m. until March 31st, 2024, facilitating efficient snow removal.

During the initial 5 days, warning notices will serve as reminders. Subsequently, violators risk a $23.00 citation. The enforcement aims to ensure smooth snow-clearing operations and maintain safety on the city streets. Pine Grove Park Gears Up For Dazzling Winter Celebration

Pine Grove Park is poised to become a radiant winter wonderland, as over 30 local businesses and organizations join forces to illuminate the park with life-size outdoor holiday displays. From November 22nd to January 2nd, visitors can stroll or drive through the park between 5 -10 p.m. to marvel at the enchanting exhibits.

The Winter Celebration, an annual tradition, owes its brilliance to dedicated volunteers who return each year to contribute unique displays. This year, a 40-foot lighted tree, generously gifted by the Port Huron Downtown Development Authority, will tower over the festive scene.

St. Clair County’s EDA Secures $2.5M For Regional Small Business Boost

The Economic Development Alliance (EDA) of St. Clair County celebrates its $2.5 million grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Small Business Support Hubs program (SBSH). The awarded funds are earmarked to enhance the Small Business Development Center’s services in Region 6, fostering growth in the Port Huron SmartZone Hub and the affiliated Underground Incubator for tech and non-tech startups.

This initiative extends its reach to Shiawassee, Lapeer, Tuscola, Huron, and Sanilac Counties, establishing counseling and training hubs. Co-working spaces in St. Clair’s Village of Capac and Huron’s Bad Axe will emerge through local community foundations.

The EDA plans to expand its Emerge Fund across Region 6, seeding it with grant funds of around $426,000 for eligible small businesses over three years. Collaboration with service providers aims to provide essential support in legal, accounting, marketing, and other vital areas, fostering entrepreneurial success and regional economic growth.
