NFL Draft Brings Excitement And Challenges To Detroit: UIA Office Closes Amidst Anticipated Traffic Surge

As the NFL Draft gears up to kick off later this week in Detroit, organizers are bracing for an influx of football enthusiasts and tourists flooding into the city. With the expected surge in traffic and heightened demand for parking, navigating the streets of Detroit may pose a challenge, prompting the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) to make adjustments.

To accommodate the anticipated disruptions, UIA has announced the temporary closure of its Detroit office for in-person appointments on Thursday, April 25th, and Friday, April 26th. UIA Director Julia Dale emphasized the agency’s commitment to minimizing stress for claimants, ensuring they can access assistance without added complications.

While the Detroit Local Office will be closed for in-person visits, UIA staff will remain accessible by phone, reaching out to those with scheduled appointments to provide support remotely. Claimants are encouraged to explore alternative options, including online resources and phone consultations, during the closure.
