VNA & Blue Water Hospice proudly sponsors Thumbcoast Theatres’ production of “Tuesdays with Morrie,” running June 7th through 30th at the Boardwalk Theater in St. Clair, Michigan. 

This autobiographical story by Detroiter Mitch Albom chronicles his reunion with his former college professor, Morrie Schwartz, who is battling Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Their weekly visits evolve into profound lessons on the meaning of life.

Master Gardeners Host 25th Annual Garden Tour And Plant Sale In St. Clair County

The Master Gardeners of St. Clair County will host their 25th Annual Garden Tour and Plant Sale on Saturday, June 29th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Southeastern St. Clair County. This highly anticipated event returns after a four-year hiatus, featuring eight unique gardens across East China, China, Casco, and St. Clair Townships.

Tickets are $25 and available at local businesses and online. The plant sale, accepting cash or check, will be located at 5432 Vista Belle Court in East China.

The Master Gardeners are dedicated volunteers certified through a 13-week training by MSU Extension, also supporting numerous community gardening projects.

SC4 Hosts Juneteenth Celebration: A Taste of Heritage, Freedom, And Unity

St. Clair County Community College (SC4) is teaming up with the Port Huron community for the 3rd annual Juneteenth celebration, “A Taste of Heritage, Freedom, and Unity,” on Wednesday, June 19th, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at SC4.

This event honors African American contributions to the nation’s culinary culture and celebrates freedom and unity. It features a live-tasting exhibit showcasing African American foods’ rich history, and influence on American cuisine. Highlights include a free live-tasting exhibit, cultural showcase with music, dancing, storytelling, and spoken word performances, and signature food and drinks from local restaurants.

Jessica Brown, SC4 Chief DEI Officer, emphasized the importance of the celebration, stating, “Juneteenth is a celebration of progress despite the most painful parts of history.”

SONS Outreach Invites 1st-5th Graders To DREAM CAMP

SONS Outreach is excited to welcome all 1st through 5th graders to DREAM CAMP, starting June 17th. 

The camp runs Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the SONS Resource Center, located at 55 15th St, Port Huron. Early registration by May 31st, is $25 per student, increasing to $35 after this date.

DREAM CAMP offers a variety of activities, including field trips, story time, recreation, and STEM projects. Breakfast and lunch are also provided.

Enjoy Family Fun At This Year’s Marysville Summerfest

If you’re looking for family fun in the Blue Water Area, look no further than the Marysville Summerfest which kicks off at Marysville Park located at 801 E. Huron Blvd., from June 13th to 16th. 

Highlights include live concerts, a Carnival Midway, petting zoo, and a classic car show on June 16th from 12 – 4 p.m. A spectacular drone show will light up the sky on June 15th at 10pm, followed by fireworks on June 16th at 10 p.m. 

Festival hours are Thursday and Friday from 4:00 – 11:00 p.m., Saturday from 12:00 – 11:30 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 – 11:00 p.m. Visitors can enjoy free onsite parking at Marysville Municipal Park. No outside food, beverages, or pets allowed.

City Council Announces “Spirit of Port Huron” Community Service Awards Program

In 1986, the City Council of Port Huron established the “Spirit of Port Huron” awards program to honor exceptional citizens who have made significant contributions to the community. 

This year’s ceremony is scheduled for September 23rd, and will recognize individuals and organizations in eight categories including Brotherhood, Civic, Cultural, Economic Progress, Good Neighbor, Heroism, Life Achievement, and Youth Service.

The City Council is calling for nominations from Port Huron residents, local groups, service clubs, and churches. Nominations should include the nominee’s name, contact information, the category for which they are being nominated, and a description of their activities that support the nomination. All nominations must be submitted by July 11th to:
