Twists And Treats: Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser To Support Community Services

Join Mid City Nutrition’s fusion of community support and culinary delights at the upcoming “Twists and Treats” Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser that’s set to tantalize taste buds while raising funds for essential community services. 

Hosted on Thursday, May 30th, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 3702 at  2645 Howard St, Port Huron, the event promises a savory meal prepared by the dedicated staff and volunteers of the soup kitchen.

Guests can relish in a hearty spaghetti dinner while contributing to the general operations and services provided by Mid City Nutrition. With tickets priced at $15 for adults, $12 for children aged 12 and under, and free admission for children under 2, attendees can also enjoy the convenience of a cash bar.

St. Mary/McCormick Catholic Academy in Port Huron proudly marks its 60th anniversary as a cornerstone of educational excellence and community enrichment. For six decades, the academy has been instrumental in shaping young minds and fostering personal growth.

Kicking off the anniversary celebrations is the Spring Carnival scheduled for Saturday, May 11th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the school premises. The carnival promises a fun-filled day with various games, bounce houses, raffles, a touch-a-truck area featuring law enforcement vehicles, fire trucks, and more, along with delicious food.

Port Huron Rotary Club Unveils Plans For 104th Rotary International Day Parade

The Port Huron Rotary Club has announced its eagerly anticipated plans for the 104th Rotary International Day Parade, slated for July 17th, at 6:30 p.m. This long standing tradition, older than both the Detroit and New York Thanksgiving Day parades, promises to be a spectacle of community spirit and celebration.

Themed “All Hands On Deck – A Century of Sailing,” this year’s parade commemorates the 100th running of the Bayview Yacht Club Port Huron-to-Mackinac sailboat race. Leading the procession as Grand Marshals are Casey and Carrie Harris.

Interested participants can register at phrotary.com or paradeday.net. The parade will follow its traditional route, commencing at Huron and Glenwood Avenues in downtown Port Huron and concluding at Court St., albeit on a slightly shorter route compared to previous years.

Port Huron Schools Honors Exceptional Staff With Advocator, Innovator, And Educator Of The Year Awards For Ninth Consecutive Year

Port Huron Schools proudly recognized the dedication and innovation of three outstanding staff members during its annual Advocator, Innovator, and Educator of the Year Awards ceremony. 

Georgia Stathakis, a Teacher Consultant in Secondary Special Education, was honored as Advocator of the Year, while Logan Raney, the Choir/Guitar Performing Arts Teacher, received the Innovator of the Year award. Tami Cronce, a Kindergarten Teacher, was celebrated as Educator of the Year.

This esteemed recognition, derived from the district’s core mission actions—Advocate, Innovate, and Educate—spotlights individuals who exemplify excellence in their respective roles. Superintendent Theo Kerhoulas surprised each recipient in their classrooms on May 7th, presenting them with prizes generously donated by local businesses.

Mr. Kerhoulas expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This is one of my favorite days of the entire school year! It is such an exciting way for our district to celebrate our exceptional staff and show our commitment to their success.”
