The Rotary International Parade Welcomes You To Celebrate

The Rotary International Day Parade, organized by the Port Huron Rotary Club and local sponsors, celebrates with the theme “All Together Now: Kindness/Friendship/Unity.” 

The parade begins at 6:30 pm and will start at Huron and Glenwood Avenue, proceeding through the downtown business district before turning onto Oak Street and ending at Desmond Landing. The Municipal Office Center (MOC) in Port Huron will be closing early that day to accommodate the parade. 

The highly anticipated event will feature a variety of floats competing for cash prizes. Entries will be evaluated on their adherence to the parade’s theme, originality, craftsmanship, costuming, and difficulty. 

The first-place winner will receive $450, while the second and third-place winners will receive $300 and $150, respectively. The application deadline for participation is Monday, July 10th, at 4 pm.

Local Artists Showcase Their Talents At Upcoming Art In The Park, Petrolia

Art in the Park, Petrolia, an annual art extravaganza held in Victoria Park, Petrolia, is a free event that serves as an excellent platform for artists across the region to showcase their skills and creativity.

Art in the Park, Petrolia, prides itself on maintaining a focus on quality and diversity by selectively inviting a limited number of artists. The event boasts an impressive variety of art forms, including watercolor, oil & acrylic painting, jewelry, pottery, stained glass creations, and more.

This year’s event is scheduled for Friday, July 7th, from 11 am – 7 pm, and Saturday, July 8th, from 9 am – 5 pm. 

Visitors can enjoy a musical line-up featuring talented musicians performing on both days at the bandstand, with the Teen Idol contest on Saturday. Seating is provided for 50 people, but attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.

Calling All Photographers, Submit Your Photos To Appear In Art On The River’s 2024 Calendar

Citizens for a Vibrant Community (CVC) is calling for submissions of captivating photographs to create their 2024 Blue Water Area Calendar. 

Both amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit up to five high-resolution JPEG files showcasing recognizable landmarks, events, or people in recognizable locations in the Blue Water Area, spanning from Algonac to Lexington. To ensure optimal quality, photographers are urged not to resize their photos and to submit native files only. 

These stunning visuals will help raise funds for Art on the River. The eagerly anticipated 2024 calendar will be available for purchase by mid-October.

Don’t miss the chance to contribute your artistic talent and capture the essence of the Blue Water Area! The submission deadline is September 1st, with selected photos being announced on September 19th.

SC4’s New Theater Summer Camp Opening For Young Thespians

St. Clair County Community College (SC4) is introducing a new theater summer camp for students in grades 1-9. The camp will take place from July 17th – 21st, at SC4’s Fine Arts Theatre. 

Participants in grades 1-3 will attend from 9 am – 12 pm, while those in grades 4-9 will join from 1 pm to 3:30 pm.

The primary goal of the camp is to foster self-assurance on stage, encourage creativity, and provide a fun and stress-free acting experience. This theater camp is an excellent addition to SC4’s lineup of athletic and STEM-based summer camps.

Throughout the week, camp participants will collaborate on various short scenes, culminating in performances on July 21st.

Annual St. Clair Family Bike Parade, A Unique Way To Bring The Community Together

Get ready for a fun-filled summer event in St. Clair as families gear up for the annual St. Clair Family Bike Parade on July 18th. 

Hosted by the city’s recreation department, this long-standing tradition aims to promote family engagement and support the St. Clair Historical Museum and Research Center. The parade will be followed by an ice cream social. Participation in the event is free, and families are encouraged to decorate their bikes, wagons, and strollers with patriotic themes. 

The parade route will traverse Sixth Street to Cass, and will conclude at the Museum, where participants can enjoy museum tours, games, and prizes. Both the St. Clair fire and police departments are expected to join the festivities, lining up and providing assistance along the route. 

For those lacking decorations, there will be an opportunity to acquire them near the Holy Family Episcopal Church prior to the parade.
