United Way Of St. Clair County Celebrates 100th Anniversary And Launches 2024 Campaign

The United Way of St. Clair County is marking its 100th anniversary with a special celebration and 2024 campaign kick-off. 

The event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Solitude Links Banquet Center located at 5810 Flinchbaugh Rd. Kimball, MI. Guests can enjoy a plated dinner, cash bar, and a historical exhibit showcasing the organization’s century of impact. The program will also feature the introduction of the 2024 Campaign Chair and plans for the upcoming fundraising efforts.

Cocktails begin at 5 p.m., with dinner and the program starting at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $35, and attendees are encouraged to wear casual to cocktail attire. Online registration is available at uwstclair.org.

21st Annual Empty Bowls Event Brings Community Together Hunger Awareness

Mid City Nutrition is excited to host its 21st Annual Empty Bowls event on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Colonial Woods Church, located at 3240 Pine Grove Ave, Port Huron. 

Empty Bowls is part of an international hunger awareness campaign, where local organizations host events serving a modest meal of soup and bread. Artisans from the community create beautiful bowls, which each attendee selects to keep. It’s an evening filled with generosity and a strong sense of community.

Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased online, at St. Clair County Community Mental Health, or Mid City Nutrition. The evening will also feature raffles and a silent auction, with all proceeds supporting the organization’s mission to fight hunger locally.

A Beautiful Me is hosting a special four-part be-YOU-tiful Workshop Series at their Training and Empowerment Suite in Port Huron. 

Designed for 5th-grade girls, the workshop runs on August 20, 21, 27, and 28 from 2:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. This transformative program aims to boost self-esteem and leadership skills through engaging activities, conflict resolution strategies, and meaningful discussions.

Located at 310 Huron Ave., the workshop provides a safe space for young girls to explore their unique strengths, navigate emotions, and build positive relationships. 6th Annual “Runaway Bride Fun Run” Is A Unique Local Fundraiser Taking Place In Port Huron

The 6th Annual “Runaway Bride Fun Run,” sponsored by ADVIA Credit Union, will take place on Saturday, August 10th, at 8 a.m. in Port Huron.

Starting at the DoubleTree by Hilton and following a scenic route along the St. Clair River, this event offers a chip-timed 5K and a 2-mile walk to support local charity “A Beautiful Me.” Participants will compete for trophies awarded to the best-dressed bride, best-dressed couple, and best-dressed wedding party, judged by Josh Chapman (Blue Water YMCA Executive Director) and Tracy Willard (Hunter Hospitality House Executive Director).

There will be a raffle with prizes such as a robot vacuum, drone, and a YMCA household membership, along with a grand prize drawing for a week-long stay at a VRBO home on Lake Huron. Registration ends August 9th.

Join The Second Annual Road Rally To Benefit United Way Of St. Clair County

The community is invited to the Second Annual Road Rally on Saturday, July 13th, celebrating 100 years of United Way of St. Clair County. 

Teams of four will participate in a scavenger hunt-like challenge using the Goosechase app, completing tasks and trivia across the Blue Water Area. The event starts at 2 p.m., with an awards ceremony at McMorran Plaza in Downtown Port Huron, at 5:30 PM. 

Registration costs $200 per team, which includes t-shirts for all participants. Proceeds support the 2024 United Way Campaign in St. Clair County. Prizes include awards for best team costume and top finishers, with the first-place team winning VIP tickets to see LANCO.
