Gov. Whitmer Declares September 17th, “Barry Sanders Day” As New Statue Honors Detroit Lions Legend

In a heartfelt tribute to one of Detroit’s football icons, Governor Gretchen Whitmer has officially proclaimed September 17th, as “Barry Sanders Day” in Michigan. 

This significant declaration coincides with the grand unveiling of an imposing 8-foot bronze statue honoring the legendary Detroit Lions running back, Barry Sanders, just outside Ford Field, ahead of the 2023 NFL season.

Barry Sanders, who held numerous franchise rushing records, etched his name in NFL history with 15,269 rushing yards and an unprecedented ten consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons with the Detroit Lions.

Governor Whitmer expressed her admiration, saying, “Today, we honor Lions legend Barry Sanders with a new statue outside Ford Field. He played with Detroit hustle and humility, always getting the job done and supporting his team. As we enter another Lions season, let’s remember Barry Sanders, one of the greatest to ever do it, and keep on winning.”

Counterfeit Car Seat Sales Raise Safety Concerns During Michigan’s Child Passenger Safety Week

In a disconcerting development, the sale of counterfeit car seats in Michigan has surged, leaving parents and caregivers anxious about their children’s safety on the state’s roads. Even parents that do extensive research can be easily fooled by these unsafe lookalikes or tricked into purchasing car seats that do not meet U.S. regulations or safety standards.”
