S.C.C.O.R.E. Impact Program Seeks Volunteer Tutors And Teachers For Winter/Spring Classes

The S.C.C.O.R.E. Impact Program is on the lookout for dedicated volunteers to join their mission in empowering students through education. The Winter/Spring session of the WRITE-2-Read Project spans 6 to 10 weeks and aims to enhance math, reading, and writing skills across all grade levels. 

Alongside academic subjects, volunteers are also needed for art, culture, music classes, and life skill coaching.

Scheduled on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3  to 6 p.m. at 710 Pine Street, Port Huron, in the St. John United Church of Christ, the program emphasizes education advocacy and service awareness.

New Detroit Air Xpress Bus Route Provides Affordable And Convenient Connection Between Downtown And Detroit Metro Airport

Detroit commuters and travelers now have a seamless and cost-effective transportation option with the launch of the Detroit Air Xpress pilot bus route. Operating daily from 3:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., the service offers 16 trips between downtown Detroit and Detroit Metro Airport.

Passengers can enjoy the convenience of online reservations, securing a one-way trip for just $6, while walk-in fares are priced at $8. The route, starting from Washington Boulevard near State Street, includes stops at both the McNamara and Evans Terminals of the airport.

Equipped with amenities like Wi-Fi, comfortable seating, restrooms, luggage storage, and charging stations, the buses prioritize passenger comfort. Additionally, discounts are available for seniors, individuals with disabilities, students, and frequent travelers, making travel more accessible to all.

Woodland Developmental Center Seeks Local Student Volunteers for Summer LINK Program

St. Clair County RESA’s Woodland Developmental Center is calling upon local students to participate in its annual Summer LINK Program, offering a unique opportunity for grades 8 through 12 to engage with students with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Led by School Social Worker Chelsey Hull, the program aims to foster empathy and community connections while providing valuable support to students. 

Emphasizing personal and professional growth, the program offers hands-on experience in special education practices and communication skills development. Participants will assist educators, guiding students through skill-building activities and social engagements.
