Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel Issues Warning About Smartphone Voice Search Scams

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is urging residents to be cautious when using smartphone voice search and virtual assistant apps to find and dial phone numbers. The Better Business Bureau has recently issued a warning about the rising threat of scams targeting smartphone users who rely on voice-activated technology for convenience.

Scammers are exploiting this reliance by creating fake customer service numbers that appear at the top of search results when using voice search. Unsuspecting users may end up paying fees for services they never intended to purchase or have their personal information stolen.

The Better Business Bureau advises users to verify support phone numbers through official business channels, watch out for phony ads, go directly to the company’s website for support, and use credit cards for payments to facilitate dispute resolution.

If you fall victim to a smartphone voice search scam, the Better Business Bureau offers a platform for filing complaints.

This Historic Port Huron Building Has Had Rumors Of Paranormal Activity

Situated at 420 Huron Avenue in Port Huron stands a historic corner building that has seen its fair share of transformations over the years, from a Subway to Bradford’s Restaurant and an unnamed eatery in the 1940s.

The building’s creepy history dating back to the late 1940s has cast a haunting shadow. The owner, who was involved in the risky business of bootlegged liquor, met a gruesome end in the building’s cellar, a murder that went unsolved.

One former employee recounted an incident in 1987 when she heard her name called from an empty kitchen. Spooked by the supernatural encounter, she and her coworker ventured into the kitchen, only to find no one there.

Today, the building houses Cedar Sub & Salad, those who venture there can savor a delicious chicken shawarma along with other delicious Mediterranean menu items, but make sure you watch out for things that go bump in the night.
