McLaren Port Huron’s Wound Healing Center Receives Award

Port Huron, MI — Healogics is the nation’s wound healing expert, and they just presented McLaren Port Huron’s Wound Healing Center with the Center of Distinction award for their outstanding clinical outcomes and high patient satisfaction rates.

Wound care centers specialize in treating patients with wounds that are not healing as expected. Patients usually suffer from poor circulation, infections, and other health conditions that prevent them from healing in a normal amount of time and can require months of wound care to resolve their issues.

The McLaren Port Huron Wound Healing Center is part of the Healogics network of over 600 wound care centers that offer specialized wound care including hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is commonly used to treat Diabetic foot wounds, chronic bone infections, and radiation tissue damage.

Patients who received care at McLaren Port Huron’s Wound Healing Center gave the center a satisfaction rate higher than 92% and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 92% within 28 median days to heal.

Baseball Season in Full Swing

It’s baseball season, and Comerica Park wants to welcome fans back to the stands for Detroit Tigers baseball.

As a sign of the times, safety measures are in place at the park including a Gameday Wellness survey that needs to be completed no more than 24 hours before entering Comerica Park. The survey is available inside the Major League Baseball (MLB) app, and attendees can take a screenshot of their result to show when they enter the park.

There are several things to know before you go including the process of parking which requires reserving your space at tigers.com/parking before leaving home and accessing your tickets on the mobile app for park entry.  Guests are also required to wear a mask while in the park unless eating or drinking and neck gaiters, bandanas, and masks with valves or vents are not permitted.

Seating during games has been strategically planned so spectators are distanced from on another, and some ticket options include purchasing tickets in pods of two or four seats at a time.

Despite the changes, a day at a ballgame is a sign of spring for many people, and even a socially distanced crowd may be a welcome sight to those who have missed cheering for their favorite teams.

Ryan’s Liquor Planning Expansion to Gourmet Market

Port Huron, MI — The neighborhood near the intersection of Pine Grove Avenue and 10th Avenue in Port Huron could soon be getting a gourmet market complete with a deli, bakery, and fresh produce if the current Ryan’s Liquor store is given zoning approval to expand.

Brian Zetouna, whose family owns the store, and Store Manager Michelle Denney have been wanting to address the “food desert” that exists in the neighborhood. Getting to a grocery store with fresh foods is currently difficult for some residents of the area.

Zetouna said they are hoping to expand to 4300 square feet and offer everything neighborhood residents need to feed their families at reasonable prices.

Jack Smith’s Market went out of business in the neighborhood many years ago with nothing to take its place until now, according to Zetouna. He said they are going to “work with the space they have, do their best, and leave the rest in God’s hands.” He said they really care for the area and want to give it what it needs.

Renderings and plans have been presented to city zoning and planning commissions. The plans include a full-service grocery store with a butcher counter, deli counter, a bakery with fresh daily made items, a wood fire pizza oven, and a full line of produce, frozen foods, and dairy, along with Ryan’s current extensive party store offerings.
