St. Clair County Community Mental Health’s 16th Annual Run For Recovery Emphasizes Mind-Body Wellness

St. Clair County Community Mental Health (SCCCMH) is gearing up for its 16th Annual Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies Run for Recovery, scheduled for Saturday, May 11th. With a theme centered on the interconnectedness of mental and physical health, the event underscores the agency’s holistic approach to wellness.

Participants have multiple race options, including a 1-Mile Walk, a 1-Mile Timed Kids Run for children ages 12 and under, and a 5K Run. Registration fees, detailed on the event’s registration page, ensure participants secure their spot and commemorative shirts before the April 17 deadline.

Pre-registered individuals can collect their race kits, including shirts, bib numbers, and timing chips, at the SCCCMH Port Huron office on May 10th and before the race on May 11th.

As kindergarten round-ups loom on the horizon, the St. Clair County Health Department, located at 3415 28th St., Port Huron, steps up to ensure every child’s readiness. 

Their dedicated vision and hearing technicians will be on-site at various round-up events across the county, ensuring that youngsters are equipped for the academic journey ahead. 

Parents are encouraged to check with their local districts for scheduled round-up dates. For those without a primary physician, or unable to make it to our kindergarten round-up events, the Health Department offers free screenings at their office.

Port Huron Schools Launches Ninth Annual Staff Award Campaign

Port Huron Schools has announced the commencement of its ninth district-wide staff award campaign, inviting nominations for Advocator, Innovator, and Educator of the Year. 

The initiative aims to recognize individuals who exemplify excellence within the community. Nominations are open to all members of the Port Huron community via the district’s website. Superintendent Theo Kerhoulas encourages active participation, urging individuals to nominate deserving candidates who embody the district’s mission values. 

The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 19th, with winners set to be surprised during National Teacher Appreciation Week, which takes place from May 6th – 10th. Partnering with DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Port Huron, winners will enjoy a one-night stay, courtesy of the hotel. Insurance Specialists Agency of Marysville will provide $500 gift cards, while the Port Huron Downtown Development Authority offers certificates for downtown retail merchants.
