In a community-driven initiative, an anonymous benefactor has pledged support for a captivating mural to adorn the tunnel beneath the 7th Street Bridge in Port Huron. Artists and visionaries are invited to submit their proposals, with a submission deadline of August 31st.

The selected design should creatively utilize all available surfaces, including walls, ceiling, and even the floor. While avoiding common motifs like lighthouses and sailboats, artists are encouraged to embrace uplifting and family-friendly themes. A budget of approximately $4000 is allocated for this project, so keep your ideas feasible.

Artists can seize this unique opportunity to collaborate, if preferred, and benefit from the tunnel’s sheltered workspace, guarding against both rain and sun.

Port Huron Schools Endowment Fund Gears Up For 10th Annual Crosstown Showdown Fundraiser

The Port Huron Schools Endowment Fund is gearing up for its milestone 10th annual fundraiser, the Crosstown Showdown, scheduled for September 22nd. The event will coincide with the intense clash between the Port Huron High and Port Huron Northern football teams. 

The fund, established in 2010, aims to support classroom grants, student programs, and college access initiatives for Port Huron teachers and students from Pre-K through 12th grade.

This year’s Crosstown Showdown will feature a special pregame tribute to honor the contributions of each of the nation’s military branches, including the esteemed Veterans who serve on the staff at Port Huron Schools.
