Dean Transportation Promotes School Bus Safety During National School Bus Safety Week

Dean Transportation, a company with over five decades of experience in transporting students across Michigan, is actively advocating for the importance of school bus safety during National School Bus Safety Week, running from Oct. 16th to Oct. 20th.

This year’s National School Bus Safety Week features a student poster contest, with the selected poster, “Safely Rolling to my Destination,” created by Avrie Siedschlag from Coon Rapids, Minnesota. The poster provides essential safety tips for students boarding, riding, or disembarking from school buses.

Michigan’s Operation Safe Stop program will run in conjunction with National School Bus Safety Week, aiming to educate drivers on sharing the road with buses to enhance student safety during loading and unloading at bus stops. Dean Transportation also plans to show appreciation for school bus professionals through various promotional materials and social media posts.

Michigan Enforces New Laws To Protect Children From Abuse

This week, Michigan put into action a series of impactful laws designed to safeguard children from sexual abuse and enhance community safety.

The bills, signed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer in July, demonstrate the state’s commitment to protecting young people and providing resources for survivors.

Among the enacted laws, Public Act 57 ensures middle and high school students receive age-appropriate materials and training to identify and prevent sexual assault and harassment.

Public Act 58 aims to keep communities safe by imposing criminal penalties on health professionals who engage in sexual assault under the false pretext of medical treatment.

The associated Public Acts 59, 60, 61, and 62 provide the necessary legal framework and sentencing guidelines to support these vital initiatives.
