Along the picturesque St. Clair River shoreline in Port Huron lies the Blue Water River Walk, which stands as a testament to community dedication and environmental stewardship. Established and maintained by the Community Foundation of St. Clair County, this nearly one-mile stretch of serene waterfront offers plenty of attractions for visitors year-round.
Originally donated by local philanthropist, the late James C. Acheson, the River Walk features an array of amenities. These include an Observation Dock, restored from a historic railroad ferry dock, a scenic Pedestrian Trail funded by private donations, and an Outdoor Classroom aimed at educating the public about the river ecosystem.
Efforts such as shoreline restoration, wetlands park development, and the addition of public art installations like Sugar, the Iron Horse, and Stella Clair the sturgeon, contribute to the River Walk’s charm.
