Twin City Foods, Inc. has initiated a voluntary recall of select Not-Ready-To-Eat Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) Super Sweet Cut Corn and Mixed Vegetables in retail bags over potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
The affected products were distributed under well-known brands such as Food Lion and Kroger, among others, and were available nationwide. While no cases of illness have been reported thus far, the company is taking preemptive measures to ensure consumer safety.
Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can lead to severe infections, primarily affects vulnerable populations, including the elderly and young children. Symptoms range from fever and headache to gastrointestinal distress. Pregnant individuals should be particularly cautious, as listeriosis can result in miscarriages or stillbirths. Consumers in possession of the affected items are advised to refrain from consumption and return them for a full refund.
