St. Clair County Road Project Round-up

This week, several road projects will impact St. Clair County. In Berlin Township, Lathrop Road will close for one day for culvert work. Brockway Township sees lane closures on Emmett Road for ditching and a full-day closure for culvert replacement. M-19 in Brockway and Emmett will have lane closures from Wednesday to May 28th due to joint repairs. MDOT’s mill and fill project on Wildcat Road in Clyde and Grant Townships will cause intermittent lane closures. Other closures include Broadbridge Road in Cottrellville for a culvert replacement.

Lake St. Clair: Top Fishing Destination

Lake St. Clair, right here in St. Clair County, is a fishing paradise, ranked third best in the U.S. by Fishing Booker. Locals and visitors love casting lines for smallmouth bass, muskellunge, and walleye, especially from boats or kayaks. Even from shore, there’s plenty of action. The season kicks off in spring and runs through fall, with ice fishing drawing crowds in winter. A Michigan or Ontario fishing license is all you need to join the fishing fun.

RESA Welcomes Therapy Dog

The St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency has welcomed a new addition to its team: Frannie, a 2-month-old Australian Labradoodle. She’s in training to become a therapy dog for special education students at Creekside and Woodland Development Centers. Frannie’s training focuses on helping students manage emotions and build confidence in school settings. Funded by the Community Foundation of St. Clair County, Frannie’s training is supported by a $12,000 donation. She’ll also make regular visits to both centers with her handler, Chelsey Hull.

Marysville Car Show

The Blue Water Region Antique Auto Club and Wills Sainte Claire Automobile Museum will host the “Marysville Car Show” at Marysville Park on June 8th. The event celebrates local automotive history, focusing on the Wills Sainte Claire car, made in Marysville in the 1920s by C. Harold Wills, a former Ford engineer. The show, now in its 32nd year, is open to all vehicles, including motorcycles. Proceeds benefit the non-profit museum, dedicated to preserving this vital part of St. Clair County’s automotive legacy.
