CBP Port Huron Seizes Eight Separate Shipments Of Fentanyl Destined To Cities Throughout The U.S.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of Field Operations at the Blue Water Bridge seize nearly 600 grams of Fentanyl during special operations. In the month of January, CBP Officers identified eight separate shipments via Canadian mail trucks that did not match the manifested contents of the packages and selected them for an enforcement examination at the Centralized Examination Station in Marysville, MI. Upon inspection, the packages each contained a white rock like substance which were detained and tested locally and sent for further examination. Lab testing results came back confirming that each package contained fentanyl and meso-erythritol (sugar alcohol). “Our officer’s commitment to serve and protect is constant and this is just one of the ways we are doing our part to stem the opioid crisis impacting our nation” said Port Director Michael Fox. The total weight of the eight shipments was 572.34 grams with an estimated street value of $15,000.00 which when further processed and distributed could have impacted thousands of U.S. citizens with deadly results.

Kate Voss Opening Second Location

Kate’s Downtown owner Kate Voss is opening a second café spot in the Maritime Center at Vantage Point in March and plans to give patrons a new choice of items on her menu.  According to Kate’s Downtown Facebook page, her favorite place has always been their cottage, and the boathouse on that property – so it only follows that she would like  to offer food and drink overlooking the water,  — she plans to call the new location The Boathouse by Kate’s.  The plan is to offer pastries, coffee, kids sandwiches and nautical-themed drinks.  Kate says she hopes to be open for business Monday, March 11.   Voss has signed a one-year lease at the Maritime Center and hopes to be there for years to come, however, the Maritime Center is listed for sale, and a sale of the property could change a lease agreement that exceeded one year.  Voss’ plan is to have the Boathouse open between 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
