To Coach Brian Jamison’s surprise, the school honored him and his wife, Anna, for his upcoming retirement after 27 seasons. Jamison, a 1991 Northern graduate, has led the Huskies to four league titles and a district crown. He’ll finish his career coaching through the MHSAA tournament before following his two sons’ college basketball journeys at Lake Superior State.

In Port Huron, the St. Clair County Board voted 5-2 Thursday to end its agreement with the Port Huron Area School District to run the Teen Health Clinic at Port Huron High. County leaders say the move follows concerns over oversight and inappropriate materials discovered during a recent review. The clinic recently reopened after inspection and will keep serving students for now, but control could shift to a local health provider before the current grant ends ithis year. District officials say they’ll keep the clinic open for area teens.

A Detroit man was killed Friday afternoon after being hit by a vehicle while walking along Michigan Road near Dove Road in Port Huron Township. Deputies say the man was thrown into a ditch filled with water and was unresponsive when crews arrived. He was rushed to Lake Huron Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators say the driver, a 16-year-old from Marine City in a Jeep Liberty, returned to the scene and cooperated with deputies. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Jeep lovers turned out for the annual Polar Bear Jeep Run on Saturday at Port Huron Ace Hardware on Pine Grove Avenue. Hosted by the Blue Water Jeep Owners Club, the event featured fun challenges and friendly competitions — all in one spot so spectators could watch up close. A major drug bust at the Blue Water Bridge near Sarnia, has customs officers talking. The Canadian Border Services Agency says officers stopped a truck coming from the U.S. on February 4th. After a second inspection, detector dogs uncovered 16 duffle bags packed with meth — about 587 pounds total. The driver, 29-year-old Kulbir Singh of Woodstock faces charges for importing and trafficking methamphetamine. Since January, border officers have seized more than 600 kilograms of meth before it reached Canadian streets.
