Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly

A deadly domestic dispute shook Port Huron late last Wednesday night. Police say they responded to a home on 10th Avenue just after 11 and found a 23-year-old man shot in the stomach. Officers gave CPR until EMS rushed him to the hospital, where he later died. A 40-year-old woman was arrested and taken to the St. Clair County Jail. An 11-year-old child inside the home was not hurt. Detectives and the Michigan State Police Crime Lab are investigating. Anyone with info is urged to call Port Huron Police.

Homelessness Crisis Worsens

Lambton County’s latest numbers show homelessness in Sarnia-Lambton remains a growing crisis, despite ongoing affordable housing projects. The county reported 284 people without stable homes in July, with chronic homelessness staying high at around 200. Shelters are stretched near capacity. While new housing projects on Confederation Street, Maxwell Park Place, and Kathleen Avenue are in the works, delays mean key targets from the county’s plan have been missed. County leaders say without more funding, the daily struggle for hundreds of residents will continue.
