Both officials faced a recall effort, and the county election commission approved the petition language just days before Marshall’s resignation took effect. Two people are dead and one man is in custody in Macomb County after a high-speed crash early Saturday in Clinton Township. Police say an officer tried stopping a speeding car on Gratiot Avenue near Quinn Road around 2:30 a.m., but the driver took off. Moments later, that car slammed into another at Gratiot and 14 Mile Road. A 25-year-old Southfield man died at the scene, along with another person. The 54-year-old Sterling Heights driver was arrested as Roseville police continue the investigation.

Police in Port Huron charged a 20-year-old man with several felonies after investigators say they found child sexual abuse material on his phone. Officers began looking into Edison Dihn Tran after a tip from Boyne City Police last September. Detectives say a search turned up multiple illegal images, and Tran later admitted asking underage girls online for nude photos. He was arraigned March 3rd and released on a $2,500 bond. Tran faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. His next court hearing is March 24th.
