Council Members Face Recall

In Port Huron, recall efforts are targeting Council Members Sherry Archibald and Teri Lamb after their votes changed how the public can speak at city meetings. The petitions cleared a clarity hearing on March 6, meaning signature drives can begin. The changes separate local and non-local speakers and set sign-up rules for public comment. Archibald and Lamb both say they won’t appeal the decision— Organizers have until July 31 to gather 2,427 valid signatures to make the November ballot.

County Greenlights Recall Petitions

The Sanilac County Election Commission has signed off on recall petitions targeting Worth Township’s clerk and treasurer. Local resident Elizabeth Wineka filed the petitions, claiming Clerk Jennifer Marshall and Treasurer Jennifer Woodruff failed to perform their basic duties. Marshall attended Wednesday’s hearing but didn’t comment, while Woodruff was absent. The commission — made up of Judge Greg Ross, Clerk Leslie Hilgendorf, and Treasurer Trudy Bowers — unanimously approved the wording. Both officials have ten days to appeal before signature gathering can begin across Worth Township.
