ATV Crash

A 58-year-old man from Marlette was involved in an ATV crash Monday morning on Marlette Road in Marlette Township. The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office reported that the man was traveling west when he lost control, causing his ATV to leave the roadway and slide into a ditch. He was ejected from the vehicle, and he wasn’t wearing a helmet. Emergency responders were called and rushed him to Aspire Rural Health System in Marlette. Authorities confirmed that speed did not contribute to the crash.

M-46 Bridge Replacement

The Michigan Department of Transportation will close M-46 east of Sandusky on Feb. 17th to replace the Black River bridge, part of a $26.4 million upgrade. Work began last year with road repairs, sewer replacements, and safety improvements in Sandusky, including M-19. This phase also includes resurfacing M-46 between Sandusky and Carsonville. The bridge project will keep M-46 closed until October, with traffic detoured via Ruth, Forester, and Maple Grove roads.

24th Street Public Meeting Thursday

Port Huron residents, business owners, and others are invited to a public meeting on Thursday, to discuss a proposed road diet for 24th Street, from Dove Road to Nern Street. The meeting, starting at 6 p.m. at the Eleger G. Harvey Reinvestment Center, will give the community a chance to learn about the project, ask questions, and provide feedback. The road diet aims to improve traffic flow, boost pedestrian safety, and modernize infrastructure. For those unable to attend, comments can be submitted by calling or emailing the Engineering Department.

Lexington Bach Festival Grant

The Lexington Arts Council secured a $5,000 grant from the Blue Water Arts Committee of the Community Foundation of St. Clair County to support the ’25 Lexington Bach Festival. Celebrating its 25th year, the festival will feature three concerts from September 10th to 14th, along with recitals at local churches and schools. The funding ensures the festival’s continued success in bringing classical music to the area.
