In a heartwarming initiative, the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) & Blue Water Hospice have joined forces with the Detroit Lions to create a unique fundraising opportunity. 

Football fans and philanthropists alike can contribute to their community’s health care needs by purchasing tickets for the upcoming January game against the Minnesota Vikings. Tickets, available at a discounted rate, will help in giving back, with $5 from every purchase directly benefiting VNA & Blue Water Hospice.

While the game’s precise date will be revealed post-Week 17, it’s estimated to be around December 31st, the partnership guarantees not only an exciting match but also vital support for charity care and room & board at the Blue Water Hospice Home.

Michigan’s Runaway Bride Fun Run Returns For A Heartwarming 5K FUNdraiser Supporting A Beautiful Me

The highly anticipated Runaway Bride Fun Run is making a comeback for a wedding-themed 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk FUNdraiser. The event aims to raise funds for A Beautiful Me, a Michigan-based nonprofit empowering young women with confidence-building programs.

The Runaway Bride kicks off at 8:00 am on Saturday, August 12th, at the scenic DoubleTree by Hilton in Port Huron, offering participants a breathtaking route along the picturesque St. Clair River.

Runners and walkers are encouraged to dress up creatively, ranging from brides and grooms to tutus and matching outfits. The 5K portion will be timed, with trophies awarded for best-dressed bride, couple, and wedding party.

After the invigorating run, participants can sample wedding-themed treats, including cupcakes from Peace of Cake and Bubble Tea from Cafe Nola, along with nutritious snacks. The deadline to register is August 11th, so register today!

Marwood Nursing & Rehab Hosts 15th Annual Men & Women Who Cook Fundraising Event

Get ready for a delightful experience as Marwood Nursing & Rehab presents its 15th annual Men & Women Who Cook fundraising event on Wednesday, August 16th. This year’s theme is “Gourmet Breakfast for Dinner,” promising a unique culinary adventure that guests won’t want to miss.

The event will feature a variety of mouthwatering dishes prepared by talented chefs from your favorite local organizations and businesses including Josh Chapman, Lisa Beedon, Scott Shigley, and many more. In addition to the culinary delights, attendees can also enjoy a silent auction, an Electric Bike raffle, and music provided by Ultimate Sounds DJs.

The primary goal of this year’s fundraiser is to raise $50,000 to purchase a second transit passenger van for resident appointments. Tickets for the event are $75 per person.

Send Love And Cheer To The Children And Families Of St. John’s Hospital

The Caring for Kids event is happening on Saturday, August 12th, from 10am – 12pm at the Blue Water Convention Center, located at 800 Harker St., in Port Huron. 

School-age children will make cards for kids in the pediatric unit at St. John’s Hospital. Each card will come with a stuffed animal and a DoorDash or GrubHub gift card for families to order food while they’re at the hospital.

The organizers want to spread love and kindness to those in need and encourage families to attend. There will be punch and cookies for everyone. Families must register and only one person per family should register, but they can indicate how many children are attending.

The event is open to all, and families with younger children are welcome. Attendees can also bring a $30 gift card to DoorDash, GrubHub, or UberEats to add to the cards, but it’s not required.

Calling All Photographers, Submit Your Photos To Appear In Art On The River’s 2024 Calendar

Citizens for a Vibrant Community (CVC) is calling for submissions of captivating photographs to create their 2024 Blue Water Area Calendar. 

Both amateur and professional photographers are invited to submit up to five high-resolution JPEG files showcasing recognizable landmarks, events, or people in recognizable locations in the Blue Water Area, spanning from Algonac to Lexington. To ensure optimal quality, photographers are urged not to resize their photos and to submit native files only. 

These stunning visuals will help raise funds for Art on the River. The eagerly anticipated 2024 calendar will be available for purchase by mid-October.

Don’t miss the chance to contribute your artistic talent and capture the essence of the Blue Water Area! The submission deadline is September 1st, with selected photos being announced on September 19th.
