Beware of Phone Scammer

The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office is warning locals about a scam involving phone calls from someone claiming to be “Lt. Stevens.” This person asks for Bitcoin payments for bond fees, but the Sheriff’s Office confirms no such officer exists, and they don’t accept cryptocurrency for bonds. If you receive a similar call, don’t send any money. These scammers can be convincing, even threatening, but stay alert and report any concerns directly to the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office.
